Happy New Year, Dear Reader!!! Welcome to my Top 10 Recipes of 2020 post. Year after year, I look forward to taking a look back at my most popular recipes. Some of them fall in the top ten for more than one year, and this year’s recipes are no different!
Welcome to my Top 10 Recipes of 2020, Dear Reader! 2020 has been quite the roller coaster year, hasn’t it? I started the year off with a great new attitude. I have been a smoker for more than 20 years and after quitting and starting again several times, this year I was determined to do it for good.
ONE OF MY 2020 GOALS
Before we get to the Top 10 Recipes of 2020, let me tell you a story. A few years back, a former smoker told me that one day his desire to smoke had vanished. That same thing happened to me. We spent last Christmas at our house, and once the holidays were over, we headed back to our apartment in Toronto. On the way, we stopped for coffee and I decided to have a smoke.
It didn’t do anything for me. I remember thinking how stupid it was to be standing under the awning at a roadside coffee shop in the pouring rain just so that I could have a cigarette. Needless to say, I continued to smoke for the next few days. On December 31, I smoked the last one in my pack. That was it. I never went to buy more.
ACCEPT HELP WHEN IT’S RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU!
I use this really cool app called Flamy to keep track of my success. It’s nice to see how much money saved, but my favourite thing to watch is the lines on the various health meters. It’s a free app.
Throughout the course of 2020, even though it’s been a very trying year, I have had very few cravings. They were not strong enough to give in, and truth be told, it’s been a few months since I’ve thought about it. Today marks a whole year without a single cigarette. Take that 2020!
TALK ABOUT A BUMP IN THE ROAD!
Back in March, at the beginning of the first lockdown, we decided to head back to our house. Both John.e and I were able to work from home and the March break had been extended. We were sure that the lockdown would be over in a few weeks. As it turns out, that was not the case.
Since then, John.e and McKenna have traveled back to Toronto a few times for one reason or another. I’ve only gone back once. So, while the pandemic has been troublesome for most, we’ve been rather lucky and for that, we are very thankful.
With more people staying at home, there was more time for cooking and many of your turned to the internet for recipe inspiration. Thank you to each and every one of you for visiting my blog and for making some of my recipes your own.
