Synopsis

The ground shakes, a rumble follows, and before anyone in Japan can prepare themselves, a cataclysmic volcanic eruption engulfs the country in molten lava and suffocating ashes. Of course, high school student Kusou Saiki repeatedly uses his psychic powers to prevent this harrowing catastrophe.

But between restoring the planet and watching his friends discuss their aspirations, Saiki finally resolves to stop the eruption and allow the world to continue spinning. However, this straightforward task is challenging even for the most powerful of psychics, let alone one who must deal with the usual shenanigans his ludicrous friends present.

Well, just like with the second season, I was happy to see that the final Saiki K. arc was actually a proper arc. I'm a bit surprised that this series eventually took the direction of telling a somewhat linear story that culminated in these characters moving forward from where they've been this whole time. In some regards, the characters stay stagnant, and ultimately, that is a bit of a shame because I would have liked to see some permanent character development. I like how this arc grapples with one of the focal points of the show - Saiki's desire to not have super powers. I won't spoil but I don't really like the ending tip of it personally, it's not terrible or anything but eh. They redo it in the following "season" though.

I like the final "battle" of the show as well, it's pretty cool and wholesome. I like the wholesome undertones behind everything, it doesn't cheapen it it just keeps it at the mood the show is going for.

Saiki Kusuo no Ψ-nan: Kanketsu-hen, touted as the third season of the anime, is a brief, lackluster addition to the series. Comprising just one or two episodes, it offers little in the way of new content. While it does tie up one loose end from the previous season, the overall impact is minimal.
