MAYFIELD, Ky. (KBSI) – Three people face drug charges after a covert drug investigation in Graves County.

Sheriff’s detectives from Graves and Calloway County sheriff’s offices arrested 3 people Tuesday afternoon in Mayfield near Walmart and seized cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, Fentanyl, a semi-automatic handgun and other items were seized. The arrests occurred in Mayfield beginning at around 5PM near Walmart.

Jacob B. Gaither, 25, of Murray faces charges of trafficking in a 1st degree controlled substance (meth), possession of cocaine, possession of a 1st degree controlled substance (Fentanyl), trafficking in a 3rd degree controlled substance, trafficking in a controlled substance within 1000 yards of a school and possession of marijuana.

Kelli R. Buchanon, 24, of Murray faces charges trafficking in a 1st degree controlled substance (meth), possession of cocaine and possession of marijuana.Buchanan is a convicted felon with convictions for forgery, bail jumping, theft, cocaine and methamphetamine possession.

Dylan T. Wiggins, 24, of Graves County faces charges of trafficking in a 1st degree controlled substance 2nd offense (meth), resisting arrest, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and tampering with physical evidence. Wiggins is a convicted felon with convictions for burglary, tampering with evidence, bail jumping, and three counts of felony theft.

Around 5 p.m. Tuesday, Graves County Sheriff Jon Hayden says Wiggins was given buy money to purchase crystal methamphetamine.

Sheriff Hayden says Wiggins, while under surveillance, was seen driving to an area near Walmart and purchasing approximately an ounce of methamphetamine (from Gaither and Buchanon) then he delivered the meth to another person next to the car wash near Walmart.

Immediately after the transaction, detectives arrested Gaither and Buchanon on Paris Road. Sheriff Hayden says they were found to be in possession of cocaine, more than $3,000 in cash and other items.

As detectives moved in to arrest Wiggins, they say he threw a 9mm semi automatic handgun into the Walmart parking lot. As a sheriff’s detective was giving him commands, Sheriff Hayden says Wiggins began dropping baggies of methamphetamine from his pockets, ignoring commands and ran to his vehicle in an attempted getaway before he was tazed to gain compliance and prevent a vehicle chase.

Sheriff Hayden says deputies seized meth, buy money and marijuana from Wiggins.

He says a search of another vehicle belonging to Gaither found parked near the Mayfield Middle School turned up additional amounts of crystal methamphetamine and Fentanyl.

Sheriff’s detectives from both sheriff’s offices searched a home belonging to Gaither and Buchanon later that evening where they say additional illegal items were located.

A Cadillac Escalade belong to Wiggins and a Chrysler 200 belonging to Gaither were seized.

All suspects were taken to out of county detention centers.

Mayfield police assisted.
